Fun and Sign Taster Workshop at Rubys

Fun & Sign is a method of communicating with your baby before they are capable of speech. Join us for a Fun & Sign Workshop at Ruby's Fund that will teach you the basics of Baby Sign. The cost of this 1 hour, 45 minute session is £10 which includes refreshments, tuition and a link to the Fun & Sign handouts and music for this workshop. This class is aimed at all ages (as we are teaching you the adults the signs) but we keep it fun for the babies and toddlers with the sensory props, puppets and music that we use (a bit like Boogietime). At the end of this workshop we will have demonstrated the basic first signs, some family signs and also some animals so that you can then keep practicing at home. There is an opportunity to continue with our 3 week Fun & Sign course that runs on Tuesday 8th, 15th and 22nd July at Rubys. This is available to book online and if you sign up for the workshop and the 3 week course we will print off a full signing pack for you to take home and provide the link to all the songs we use on the course. Fun & Sign is based on British Sign Language and the course incorporates signs, rhymes and sensory play. With regular signing, not only will your infant learn a valuable communication skill, they will be having lots of fun interacting with other infants too. Signing opens a window into your infant's mind and personality it also allows your infant to clearly communicate specific thoughts before they have developed the oral skills to articulate them, reducing frustration for your infant – and also for you! Signing won’t delay verbal language development – in fact, it may accelerate it as research shows that infants who sign usually start to talk sooner and develop larger vocabularies than non-signing infants. Signing infants often have a higher IQ than non-signing infants and tend to be more interested in books.
